Frequently Asked Questions

Q: When I go to the gas station to fill my gas tank – Does EZ-FUEL change anything?

A: No, the EZ-FUEL system doesn't change anything other then having the ability to pump gasoline when and where you need it

Q: Does EZ-FUEL run out of gas – is it a separate tank?

A: Ez-FUEL shares the gas tank of your vehicle, if it holds 30 gallons and is full then you would have at least 25 gallons or more to dispense.

Q: Can I take too much gas out of the host vehicle and find myself “out of gas?”

A: Yes you do need to monitor your fuel usage, but you would have to dispense a lot of gasoline to empty your gas tank.

Q: Can I overfill the recipient’s tank?

A: Yes, the EZ-FUEL system does not automatically shut off; this feature was intentionally omitted. The small gasoline tanks that you would use an EZ-FUEL system to fill would shut off the fueling nozzle when they were half full. With the way the system is designed you can fill the tanks to the top. This is beneficial in that you will get maximum operating time out of your equipment when the tank is full. This is almost impossible to do with a gas can and funnel with out spilling gasoline all over. Even the new press to fill spout gasoline cans will not allow you to fill your tank.

Q: Can I use my EZ-FUEL when I am out of gas and pump gas from another vehicle into mine?

A: No, the EZ-FUEL system only allows you to dispense gasoline, but it can be used for exactly for that purpose for all roadside assistance vehicles by companies like; AAA, Law enforcement, Tow truck operators, etc.

Q: Can somebody steal gas from my vehicle’s tank using my EZ-FUEL?

A: No, EZ-FUEL will not allow fuel to be suctioned from the host vehicle; gasoline can only be pumped when the host vehicle engine is idling.

Q: What prevents someone from plugging into the system and stealing my gasoline?

A: Unless the vehicle’s fuel pump is operating fuel cannot pass through it. This means you cannot access the fuel without having the vehicle’s ignition key. In comparison, gasoline kept in cans in a truck bed is frequently stolen.

Q: Isn’t this just a siphon – so why shouldn’t I just use a cheap hose to siphon gas?

A: No, Ez-FUEL bears no resemblance to a siphon system. Siphon systems are extremely dangerous, gasoline is toxic, and siphons only work if the receiving container is below the siphoned tank and then you would still need to pour the container into the tank of the item you want to fill in the first place. In the past ten years most vehicles have a fuel tank filler tubes that have baffles built into them which make it impossible to get a siphon tube in anyway.

Q: Must my vehicle be running for FUEL Link to work?

A: Yes. The vehicle must be running, this is a safety feature in that only someone with the keys will have access to the gasoline in your tank.

Q: Can I move EZ-FUEL to another vehicle and then back again the next day?

A: Only if you purchase an extra adapter kit and mount it to your other vehicle.

Q: If I want to have FUEL Link setup on my vehicle and my wife's vehicle, can I just order it with one transfer hose/nozzle and carrying case to use between both vehicles? Or can I order one complete FUEL Link unit and simply order one additional in-car link setup?

A: Yes.

Q: If I buy a new car can I re-install EZ-FUEL?

A: Yes, but you may be surprised that the buyer of your old vehicle might want to pay you extra to leave it installed

Q: Can I use it for diesel vehicles? Will EZ-FUEL be offered for diesel vehicle?

A: No not yet but a diesel system is in the development stage.

Q: I want to buy EZ-FUEL to give as a gift; can you ship it – with the warrantee – and include a gift card?

A: Yes but only if it is ordered direct from re-fuel Corp.

Q: Once installed, how difficult is it to use EZ-FUEL?

A: Using EZ-FUEL is so simple that anyone with access to the vehicles ignition key can be pumping gasoline with a couple of minutes worth of instruction and the operating instructions are printed on the inside of the carrying / storage case.

Q: Is the system safe?

A: The EZ-FUEL system is very safe and simple to operate, this does not mean good judgement when refueling isn't still needed. Never fill a piece of equipment when it is running or hot; never fill any thing with your motor vehicle running indoors.

Q: Can I install EZ-FUEL myself? Who can I have install EZ-FUEL?

A: Yes you can install an EZ-FUEL system yourself if you have general knowledge of automobiles and modest mechanical skills. If you are not confident you can download the install inst. from our web site and show them to your local repair shop or click on approved installation centers.

Q: How long does it take to install EZ-FUEL?

A: Less then one hour as an example we installed an EZ-FUEL system on a Dodge Dakota pick up truck in about 45 minutes.

Q: What is a fuel injection test port and where is it located.

A: A fuel injection test port is a built in fuel system access point for fuel system trouble shooting for you mechanic. The test port is located on the fuel injection rail, which is the fuel supply tube that is located above the intake manifold and distributes fuel to the fuel injectors. Once located the actual connection takes minutes and does not effect fuel system integrity or void any warrantee.

Q: Does my car have a fuel injection test port?

A: Most vehicles that have been built in the last ten years have a test port. Even if your vehicle doesn't have a test port there are many other simple, non dangerous ways to connect to your fuel supply line.

Q: Does FUEL Link have to be grill mounted?

A: No but it sure makes using the system easy and quick. The other locations that come to mind are above or below the bumper or under the hood.

Q: Can I install EZ-FUEL on my motorhome?

A: Yes, many RV owners find EZ-FUEL to be safer and more convenient then storing gas cans in a compartment that is usually under the sleeping area.

Q: Can I install FUEL Link on an older vehicle with a manual fuel pump and carburetor or throttle body injected engine?

A: The answer is yes but a bit more complicated to install, e-mail us with your particular vehicle.

Q: What happens if the hose is cut or ripped off of the vehicle?

A: If you were connected and the vehicle was running it would stop immediately. For a better understanding of how this safety system works click on -----------. If the connectors were damaged simply shut off the inline valve that is supplied with the system re start the vehicle and drive away when ready and contact us for repairs to your EZ-FUEL system.

Q: If my hose gets cut, will fuel keep pumping from my vehicle?

A: No, this will create a sudden drop in fuel supply line pressure which your engine management computer will think is a motor vehicle accident and immediately shut off your vehicles fuel pump and ignition system. To restart just disconnect the Ez-FUEL hoses and re start when ready.

Q: If my hose gets cut, can I start my vehicle?

A: Yes, if that should occur just disconnect the EZ-FUEL hoses from the quick connect enclosure and your vehicle will re start.

Q: Where do the vapors go?

A: The vapors that are pulled in through the fueling nozzles vapor recovery boot and pass in to your intake system and engine and are burned through your engine. Note this will not effect your vehicles emission system in a negative way or increase your tailpipe emissions.

Q: How do I set the fuel flow?

A: Setting the fuel flow is easy; we supply the Allen wrench and have explicit instructions in the section on installation, just click install.

Q: How much fuel will the system pump?

A: Flow rates pretty much depends on the capacity of the host vehicle fuel pump. For example, four cylinder small displacement engines generally have fuel pumps with lower flow rates than large displacement V8 engines. Flow rates for vehicles with small displacement engines range from approximately .8 to 1.5 gpm. Vehicles with larger displacement engines can pump close to 2 gpm.

Q: How far away can I fuel a vehicle/tool from my vehicle?

A: The supplied EZ-FUEL hoses are 15 feet in length, at least ten feet but use proper judgement and do not pull on the hoses while refueling.

Q: Must I empty the fuel from my unit transfer hose or does that remain there?

A: There are a few ounces of fuel that remain in the nozzle and hoses. Both the nozzle and dripless self sealing quick connect are rated for substantially higher pressures then could ever be created through gasoline evaporation, even in a hot environment (like your trunk). Follow the instructions inside the carrying case and you will be fine. Certainly the few ounces of gasoline is much safer then a five gallon gas can in your trunk.

Q: What do I do with the Nozzle and Hose after fueling?

A: Simply coil the hoses and replace the nozzle and hoses in the provided carrying case.

Q: Will the unit transfer hose leak or smell when stored in my vehicle?

A: No, if you follow procedure and properly place the nozzle and hoses in the carrying case no gasoline odor will be detected. The yellow vapor barrier fuel supply hose was specially designed to have the lowest level of permeation that is available today.

Q: How long will the system last?

A: With proper care the system should last for many many years. There is an extended warrantee that is available to extend the 3-year warrantee to six years.

Q: Will it hurt my fuel pump?

A: No, absolutely not, in actuality when EZ-FUEL is being used the reduction of fuel supply line backpressure reduces fuel pump wear, but this would be so insignificant as to be almost impossible to measure.

Q: Will installing the system void my warranty?

A: The system does not expose fuel system components to any conditions that differ from normal vehicle operation. Some car dealers don’t like to do low paying warranty work however, vehicle owner’s warranty rights are protected by the Magnusson-Moss act, which says a vehicle seller cannot just claim that a part or accessory not sold by the manufacturer has caused a problem. The seller must prove it before warranty coverage can be denied.

Q: Can I get an extended warranty for my FUEL Link unit?

A: Yes, for 3 additional years.

Q: Do I need to worry about children accessing EZ-FUEL?

A: No, Only if you give them access to your ignition keys.

Q: Does gas in a plastic container really lose octane almost immediately and how much could it lose?

A: The amount of vapor that passes through a plastic gas can are so amazing we suggest you read the report yourself, see------section. Yes octane, which is now boosted with ethanol, will evaporate quickly causing extreme octane loss and with an old, poorly sealed can and a hot, summer you could loose as much as 10 octane points in two weeks time.

Q: Does carry gas cans void any insurance?

A: Yes, if you carry a gas can in an SUV or passenger van or in proximity to the passengers your are violating DOT regulations which most likely nullify your insurance coverage.

Q: Why is carrying gas cans dangerous?

A: This is complex, at each point of filling and transporting you are exposing you and your family, friend or employees to unnecessary dangers due to spillage, vapor inhalation, spark or static ignition / explosion. Plus dealing with the weight and back injuries or slip injuries you would have to ask yourself why when the EZ-FUEL system is now available to the public.

Q: Is there any vehicle fire statistics for transporting gas cans?

A: Yes, if you want to be shocked at how many accident, deaths, children deaths or burns or poisonings that occur every year then goggle gas can related injuries, accidents, fires, poisonings, deaths and be ready to be shocked.

Q: Are there any statistics on filling gas cans in pick-up trucks with bed liners? I heard something about static charge?

A: Absolutely, just Google and be ready to spend hours reading what occurs yearly.

Q: Is it dangerous to store gas cans in my house or attached garage?

A: Yes, Yes, Yes this is a no no. Besides the exposure that you incur just in filling and transporting you now expose you and your family to a level of fuel vapors that wouldn't be allowed in industry and the associated explosions that occur yearly.

Q: Are there any home accidents from the storage of gas cans in a home?

A: Enough to shock you, deaths, poisonings, burns and not surprisingly most of the people that I know that have gotten cancer and or a leukemia type blood disease always seem to have an attached garage with a couple of gas cans in them for most of there lives.

Q: What happens if the system is damaged in a collision?

A: Depending where you mount it the adapter and its fuel line are no more or less exposed than any other fuel system component. For example, a severe impact that separated the engine from the vehicle would take out the inlet and return lines connecting to the vehicle’s gasoline tank. The big danger is if the fuel pump kept operating it could empty the contents of the gas tank through the severed lines. To prevent this federal safety standards require the fitment of impact sensitive devices, which shut off the pump in the event of a collision.
